Tivoli Audio's NetWorks Radios Connect Listeners with the World in Style January 07, 2010
The Texture Collection of Tivoli Audio's NetWorks radios
By William Ng
Tivoli Audio’s NetWorks lines of Internet radios fit incentive program winners who value the look of their electronic equipment in their homes as much as they sound.
NetWorks delivers thousands of free Internet radio stations from around the globe, allowing users to ditch their computers when they want to hear world radio. For instance, they can listen to Italian opera from Milan, jazz from Cuba, or rugby games in Australia. The radios can locate stations by country, genre, or station call letters.
NetWorks also plays music from PC-based audio files via a wireless or Ethernet connection to users' home computers.
Produced by Tivoli, whose founder, Tom DeVesto, aims to create audio products that combine artistic design and high performance, NetWorks products are grouped along three collections: Texture, Color, and Cappellini—the latter after DeVesto’s collaborator, Giulio Cappellini, a well-known furniture designer based in Milan.
The Color Collection is made up of Grass Green, Carmine Red, Stone Grey, Ocean Blue, Frost White, and Midnight Black finishes. The Texture Collection includes Chisel, Zebra, V-Stripes, and Lines. Cappellini finishes come in high-polished China Blue, Acid Green, and Chestnut Brown.
They are sold as stereo systems, made up of the NetWorks units and companion speakers, for $750 for Texture and Color models and $1,000 for Cappellini models.
Tivoli furthers the NetWorks experience with www.tivoliportal.com, where users can get technical help, chat with fellow users, get radio station recommendations, and add high-definition multi-cast and DAB stations.
