Sony Launches Green Netbook
January 23, 2010
By Donna M. Airoldi

Ideal for clients who increasingly request that green products be included in incentive program reward options is the new Sony VAIO W Series 212AX Eco Edition Mini Notebook, made of “environmentally responsible materials.” The new computer was introduced at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show, held last week in Las Vegas.

The VAIO W 212AX features a reprocessed plastic chassis comprised of approximately 20 percent recycled CDs and comes in a reusable carrying-case made from recycled PET bottles—no wasted cardboard packaging.

With an HD (1366x768) 10.1-inch LED backlit widescreen display, users can view an entire Web page side-to-side on a single screen. The machine also has a 250 GB hard drive, so there’s room for movies, photos and videos. Battery life is up to seven hours on a single charge; the machine weighs in at 2.6 lbs. with the standard battery.

The VAIO W Series Eco Edition mini notebook starts at $480, comes in white with a translucent green interior (to remind users its eco-friendly?) and is equipped with the Microsoft Windows 7 Starter operating system. The product is currently available for pre-sales at Sony Style stores: www.sony.com/pr/wseries.
